2:30 p.m. CDT: We're starting our descent into PV, and into a vacation state of mind! Had a few hassles at the airport this morning (my passport got flagged for some reason, the lines at check-in were moving super slowly, and we just barely made our plane), so we're both ready for some serious R & R. Not to mention ready for lunch!
10:30 p.m. CDT: Wow, this place is amazing. We fought through another long line at customs at the PV airport (who'd have thunk it would be so hard to get into Mexico?), and then fumbled the connection with our driver for a while before finally making it to the villa. Spent the rest of the afternoon lounging in the pool, drinking cervezas, and making new friends. Carmen and Claudio cooked up an amazing meal, and then we retired to the deck to watch the sunset.
Tomorrow is another day with no agenda, except moving over to our permanent villa in the afternoon and a birthday dinner out on the town. I'll try to post some photos from today to the gallery if I can get the Internet to work from our room.

6:11 p.m. CDT: Moved over to the other villa today, and it's even nicer than where we stayed last night! Will post more house photos later, but we've gotta split for dinner now. Check out photos from this morning and afternoon in the gallery.

11:10 a.m. CDT: Everyone is moving a little slowly this morning, after a big night out for Kathy's birthday. Our driver brought us down the hill and into the main square a little before 7—to a bar where we could see some pole dancers. I had something else in mind, but it turned out be a Mexican ritual dance involving acrobats who hang from ropes tied to a 50-foot pole. Sounds cool, but we got there too early and had to leave for dinner before they started their act.
Dinner itself was amazing. We had reservations at a patio table at Vista Grill, with sweeping views of Puerto Vallarta and the bay. What began as a civilized affair with Veuve Cliquot champagne (thanks Jim!) turned into Maureen slamming back tequila shots and some late night skinny dipping back at our villa. Who says we're too old to party like rockstars? (Well, actually, my head did this morning...)
3:15 p.m. CDT: The neighbors staying at Casa Serefina brought over the camera cable I'd left there, so I've added some photos from last night to the Sunday album. I've also posted a gallery of snapshots from around this amazing villa.
Having an amazing, relaxing day. The masseuses showed up around 10:30, and everyone's day improved dramatically after that. Had a tasty lunch of red snapper and more chiles rellenos (Maureen and Paul insisted). Now I've got to get off this computer and into the pool!

8:30 a.m. CDT: Time for the Medical Report. We have multiple cases of sunburn, a few unsettled stomachs, and one broken toe.
Yep, that's right. Maureen banged her toe on the two-foot lip of the shower, and there's little doubt that it's fractured. She's being a trooper about it, limping around the villa and even hobbling into a cab last night for dinner. Fortunately, we have a couple medical professionals in our group (Paul & Trish), who say the odds are pretty good we won't have to amputate. Just apply liberal amounts of painkiller (Cuervo Especial works OK) and skip the yoga session this morning.

10:30 a.m. CDT: I seem to have settled into a routine of updating this web site in the morning and then actually enjoying my vacation for the rest of the day—which I think is a good thing. Hopefully those of you enjoying a vicarious vacation along with us don't mind the long pauses between posts.
Yesterday we spent all afternoon on a chartered boat, heading to the Islas de Marietas. It was a long, choppy ride there and back, and the water was too cloudy for the scuba divers among us to see much, but we got to see thousands of boobies. Blue-footed boobies, that is. We hiked around the craggy coastline, took tons of photos, and then buzzed back across the bay to an amazing dinner at our villa.

6:00 p.m. CDT: Maybe I settled into the vacation vibe a bit too much, since I haven't found the motivation to post lately. Rest assured that we've had an amazing and relaxing time for the last couple days, punctuated with a few adrenaline bursts courtesy of the zipline tour over the jungle canopy—and a few hot flashes for the ladies, courtesy of the strapping zipline guides! Check out the action for yourself with this video.
For dinner last night, we ventured into town again for some Cuban food at La Bodeguita del Medio. We had high hopes, because the restaurant of the same name in Palo Alto is one of our favorites. But the food and service were both awful, and we wished we'd asked Nellie (the chef here at the villa) to cook for us instead.
Anyway, here it is: our last full day in lovely Puerto Vallarta. I'm sad about returning to reality, but looking forward to our home, our friends, and our dog. We have a couple other sets of photos to post, which I'll try to get to before we leave.
11:20 p.m. CDT: Went in to town after dinner to do a bit of souvenir shopping, and managed to catch the Voladores flyers. Check out the video here.
